Come read the (in)sane ramblings of a 20-something who has nothing better to do than (in)sanely ramble! There's also stuff about hermit crabs.

On the Road

Just a few pics of our stay in Cobram. We had a great site, right under the biggest bloody red gum on the river, as Dad said (we needed the shade). Our first free camping spot. The pic of the river was the view out our door! Just magic.
We spent a coupla nights in Cobram on the river just taking it easy before heading up here to work. Basically swam three times a day, ate and slept. It was very relaxing.

Gardasil

Not sure if you have all heard of the new cervical cancer vaccine that the government is funding for school aged girls and women up to the age of 26. Some of my friends are getting the injection and I am debating the issue myself.

Apparently the vaccine does not prevent all causes of cervical cancer and only protects against the HPV virus - human papillomavirus. From what I have read, in the most cases our bodies fight off this virus on it's own. It sounds kinda like the cold sore virus.

What gets me is that the vaccine was only created in 2006. How can they possibly have discovered any long term affects? The problem is, the truth about any long term side effects won't come out until... the long term of course. By then it will be too late for some people. On the otherhand, if it's all good, then I miss out on a free vaccination that could save my life!

Here are some basic websites I have found, describing what Gardasil is, possible side effects (although most seem to be side effects to needles, not the vaccine itself) and also a bit about the government's funding.

Encyclopedic information about the vaccine:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gardasil

Australian Government Funding:

Side effects or over-reactions??:
http://www.abc.net.au/worldtoday/content/2007/s1929912.htm

Interesting points made about the company producing the vaccine:
http://ahrp.blogspot.com/2007/05/gardasil-vaccine-so-far-3-deaths-and.html

There's plenty more to be found out there on this vaccine. I intend to do my research before taking the jab. If any of you have any information that you could share with myself and others in regards to this issue, I would love to read it.

Cheers,

Rhian

To have and to hold...

The lucky couple!

Michelle and Isaac’s wedding was a very pleasant affair indeed! It was great to share their very memorable, very special day. We wouldn’t have missed it for the world. Isaac will probably kill me for mentioning it, but it was so sweet – I have to! The poor guy was so over joyed on the day that he spent nearly the entire ceremony dabbing at his eyes with a hanky! I think he was crying before Michelle even entered the church! What a beautiful gesture.

I know these two will have a wonderful life together and if you could invest in marriages, I would definitely put my money on you guys increasing in value as the years go on! Enjoy each other, and thank you for the memories.

REFLECTIONS

Photo taken by the talented B.Sealey (who was rarely given control of the camera, but will do on the next holiday, based on these beaut pics!).

Well, here we are – half way through the year – and what have we done!

I know it’s been a while since I last posted, but a lot has been happening, as most of you probably know.

Our trip to Perth was fantastic! Thank you to everyone who made the time such a wonderful experience, especially Anne Maree and Carl who put us up for the most part of our 3.5 week trip. How can we ever repay you guys? Also a big thank you to Karen, Michelle and Isaac.

Unfortunately we have had a bit of a hiccup with some of our photos, including those from the wedding and the first half of our holiday. Until I can get the situation sorted, I will just post a few shots.

Once I have the photos organised I’ll do a highlights blog. So keep your eyes out… keep coming to the site. I know I’m slack, but I’ll try to be more consistent – promise.

Country Life

Cute Koala Dad found at 'Grassy beach', Cobram.

I never thought I'd admit to missing Cobram, but I do. Or maybe it's just the way of life that I miss. The fresh, open air, the quiet, the pace. It's so much hotter up there, everythin moves slower. I like that. Of course, if I was pickin fruit it would be a whole other story (and I'd be movin EVEN slower)! Still, I don't know bout ya all, but working from 6am till 3ish, swimmin, nappin, eatin and sleepin sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

Princess Jazzy Jaz!

Last week we were honoured with the presence of the mightiest of all majesties - her lady the lovely Jazzy Jaz. We bathed in the glory of her glory, and just generally admired her beauty and wit.

Actually, in the the three or so days we got to share with Princess Jaz - we did much more than that. We did the present thing, shopped, played tennis, BBQed, Baskin & Robbined, Buffyied up, danced and ate lots of lollies! It was a jam packed visit.

Although it was too short we had a wondrous few days, but now it's over and we have only these photo's to cherish the memories! Love you Jasmine! Glad you had a good time. Come back any time.
